Book Commercials
Middle school students are required to complete 8 book commercials throughout the year, completing a minimum of two per quarter.
Book commercials are short (30 sec. - 1 min.) advertisements about a book a student recently finished reading and enjoyed.
The goal of the book commercials are to try to convince classmates to read the books as well.
In no particular order, this is what should be shared in a book commercial:
- Title, author, genre, and book length
- Plot (exposition, main characters, problem)
- Review (what about it was good)
- Recommendation (who would enjoy this book)
Here are a few things that should not be shared in a book commercial:
- How the book ends
- What the back of the book or internet says
- A list ("The characters are..." or "The setting is..")
- A boring presentation
